What Inspires Me?

I applied for PLTW for various reasons. It so far seems like a really fun and excellent program. Some reasons I enrolled in this program were to help decide my career path, utilize the values from PLTW that can be applied in the real world, and increase my engineering knowledge in general.

I don’t really currently have a dream job or set future plans yet. But two of my goals for this school year are to maintain all A’s in school and make the Fremd freshmen baseball team.

My career path is undecided, since I am only a freshmen. However, the two fields that I’ve shown the most interest in are medical and engineering. When I apply for college, I am unsure what major I will participate in. Ultimately, probably the greatest goal that you can help me achieve is finding out which career path to choose. Also, my two favorite subjects in school have always been math and science. Because engineering relies a ton on both of these subjects, it has really caught my attention.

Next, I see that a lot of real life situations are involved in engineering such as discussing and debating, problem solving, and presenting. It would be great if I can improve in these commendable areas through PLTW. With these skills applied to my lifestyle, I think it would definitely change the way people perceive me in real life also.

Finally, I believe there is so much to learn from PLTW. I learned so many new concepts in my junior high GTT classes. It has been a true joy from past experiences, full of excitements. From learning these new concepts and functions, I have found so much fascination, that I just want to keep learning them.

My greatest passion is for baseball. Not only do I enjoy playing it, but I think two of some of the most fascinating things about baseball are the physics involved and the statistics. I really enjoy watching many Major League players in slow motion, analyzing their forms in hitting, pitching, and fielding. But another interesting topic would be engineering baseball equipment. I recently bought a baseball bat called the “Easton Mako Torq” which is a very modernized bat that has a spinning knob at the end, so as you extend your swing, it will help preventing you from rolling your arms over and losing bat speed and power. It would be really interesting to modernize the game of baseball.

In conclusion, I am really looking forward to this PLTW class and I know that this class will be very beneficial for me. I understand that engineering won’t always be the most exciting thing, but I know that this is a class where I will definitely learn from a lot. Actual document is shared in Google Drive.
